Sumer Mehta is a Director of Photography working across feature films, commercials, music videos, and documentaries. His practice is rooted in precision-led cinematography, expressive yet controlled visual language, and technically complex camera movement. He is known for his command over specialty rigs, drones, and motion systems, often designing shots that balance engineering precision with emotional intent.

 

His body of work includes the award-winning music videos Juicy and HOIA, and the documentary The Turtle Walker, which was nominated at the Raindance Film Festival 2025. Sumer has collaborated with leading production houses and platforms including Netflix, Hotstar/Jio and Amazon, contributing to narrative films, brand campaigns, and documentary projects that demand both technical rigor and cinematic sensitivity.

 

Alongside cinematography, Sumer also performs as a DJ under the names Darktersaab/ Harbour Dubs. His sound draws from bass-heavy, experimental club cultures, and he has shared stages with artists such as Plastician, Dakta Dub, Earl Gateshead, and Delhi Sultanate. He has performed at notable festivals and venues including VH1 Supersonic (Pune), Goa Sunsplash Festival, Soho House Mumbai, and Vinyl Night Out, maintaining a parallel presence within India’s independent music circuit.
